I did the entire conversion a few weeks ago on my NIB TM-AC1900 that I originally bought and stuck on a closet shelf when TMO was selling them for a song, I'm running version 3.0.0.4.386_40558-gc48f410 as a wireless node in a 5 node mesh without issues. This link describes the latest updated instructions to perform a conversion, basically you need to perform the commands after step 24 I believe.

You need to be running at least 384.x firmware for the router to use AiMesh, a quick check would be to check the Operation Mode and confirm whether or not you have options described as Wireless Router/AiMesh Router and Access Point(AP) mode/AiMesh Router in AP modes.īefore you upgrade you will need to run a few commands from the CLI to fix the mtd5 partition and then upgrade to a suitable version.
